[Август 03, 2003] Tungsten T2 is localized in European languages
Paragon Software (SHDD) announces the release of the new technology of complete Palm
Tungsten T2 localization.
The company presents new PiLoc localization technology of complete Palm Tungsten T2
interface translation almost at the same time with the official introduction of
Tungsten T2 by Palm, Inc. PiLoc creates an environment to operate with Palm Tungsten
T2 in national language. PiLoc provides full translation of Palm Tungsten T2
interface to national languages (desktop icons, menu, dialogs of built-in Palm OS
applications are translated). PiLoc also includes national fonts, national keyboard
layout and national Graffiti 2 support. With all these features PiLoc makes the
device look like if the national version of Palm OS was installed into ROM. Using
PiLoc on Palm Tungsten T2 customers could work with their native languages and
understand Palm concept even if they don’t speak English or other built-in languages.
PiLoc is already recognized as a de-facto standard of Palm OS localization problem in
many countries. A lot of official distributors of Palm, Handspring and Sony Clie
bundle PiLoc with devices they sell.
Today Paragon Software (SHDD) officially releases complete Czech and Russian
localizations of new Palm Tungsten T2 with full interface translation and Graffiti 2
support. Complete Dutch, Greek and Polish translations of Palm Tungsten T2 are
scheduled for release at the beginning of next week. Other 23 languages will be
added gradually. Lite version that enables national fonts support, national keyboard
layout and national Graffiti support, is already available for Bulgarian, Croatian,
Czech, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian,
Mongolian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak,
Slovenian, Swedish, Turkish.
"PiLoc provides a complete solution for end users and corporate customers
who want to use their local language on their Palm Powered device(s)", -
said Larry Berkin, Director of Global Developer Marketing of PalmSource, Inc, -
"PiLoc provides an industry-leading, comprehensive approach to national
language support that is highly-integrated with Palm OS. PiLoc provides localization
functions for: input methods (on-screen keyboard, Graffiti & Graffiti2 and
Soft Graffiti, portable keyboards), text sorting, global search, operations
selection according to rules of national alphabets, different encoding type support,
text alignment functions for Hebrew and Arabic languages, and a complete interface
translation of Palm OS into a variety of national languages.&
In the nearest plans of PiLoc development are: introduction of the first in the world
Arabic localization of Palm OS 5.0-5.2 and localization of new Palm devices the
company plans to announce in autumn.
