Palm OS is fully localized to Portuguese
Paragon Software (Smart Handheld Devices Division) in co-operation with PalmLand, one of the most
popular web sites about Palm devices in Brazil, announce Portuguese PiLoc - first solution that realizes software localization of standard Palm OS to Portuguese (Brazil) language.
Portuguese PiLoc package includes two edition of the program. Lite version that adds to the system standard Windows styled on-screen keyboard layout and
modified Graffiti system for comfortable typing and writing information in Portuguese as well as special engine for correct search and sorting operations for texts and notes in Portuguese. Full version provides in addition to Lite functionality complete OS localization to Portuguese language. Activating the system you can see all menus, buttons, dialogs, system alerts, text strings of all standard built-in applications in Portuguese. Currently Portuguese PiLoc is available for standard Palm OS 3.5 and Palm m100/m105. Version for Palm OS 4.0 (Palm m500/m505) and Handspring Visor will be available in several weeks.
The program bases on year's technologies and big experience of Paragon Software (SHDD) in creating software localization for Palm OS. Today the company offers localization products for appr. 20 different languages (starting from Russian and up to Arabic and Hebrew) for Palm Connected Organizers, Handspring Visor, TRG Pro/HandEra, Sony Clie. Most of company's products became actual standard for Palm device distributors and resellers in different countries.
Palm OS interface translation was developed by PalmLand, using Paragon's standard toolkit. PalmLand is the major site in Brazil related to portable devices. This site is the only one in the region of Latin America that covers all PalmOS topics and has a lot of pages with high resolution pictures from PalmOS devices. It is a reference site in Brazil for those who want to know more about palmtops.
Both companies are sure that the Portuguese PiLoc will be very popular on the market. Portuguese PiLoc can really increase Palm OS device sales in Portugal, Brazil and other Portuguese speaking countries as the program makes Palm OS completely understandable to every potential customer (even who doesn't speak and understand English at all).
