FREIBURG, Germania – Agosto, 2009 – Paragon Software Group ha lanciato una nuova versione della sua famosa applicazione per previsioni meteo in tempo reale Handy Weather per dispositivi S60 e Windows Mobile con touch screen. Il programma è stato riprogettato e ottimizzato per facilitare il controllo finger-tip, in base a un'avanzata interfaccia touch-screen delle serie più recenti di smartphone S60 e Windows Mobile, consentendo agli utenti di telefoni cellulari di ottenere le previsioni meteo più dettagliate con il semplice tocco o sfioramento del dito.

Handy Weather è il modo più semplice e affidabile di accedere alle informazioni meteo locali, nazionali e internazionali, sia in Celsius sia in Fahrenheit, sul proprio telefono. Gli utenti di Handy Weather possono ottenere previsioni meteo istantanee e dettagliate per i successive cinque-sette giorni, grazie al supporto delle mappe meteorologiche satellitari, per migliaia di città di tutto il mondo. Per ottenere dati meteo precisi, gli utenti possono selezionare una posizione qualsiasi dall'elenco preimpostato di 40.000 città o individuare una posizione tramite GPS. I menu finger-friendly e le opzioni a barra del touch screen consentono l'accesso immediato ai dati meteo, toccando semplicemente due volte la schermata "Oggi". L'utente ottiene previsioni meteo orarie, giornaliere e settimanali grazie a un singolo tocco, scorrendo l'elenco delle città, zoomando indietro o avanti, ruotando e spostando le mappe meteorilogiche; il tutto, toccando semplicemente lo schermo con il dito. L'unico requisito indispensabile per ottenere informazioni meteo in tempo reale è la possibilità di connessione a Internet wireless.

Al di là del suo look completamente rinnovato, Handy Weather (per S60) offre un nuovo meteo screensaver, una nuova funzione “Elenco città” che fornisce previsioni per diverse città contemporaneamente, nonché vari effetti di animazione che accompagnano i dati meteo.

Ab sofort erhältlich im iTunes Online Store

Mit der neuen, 25. Auflage steht das Standardwerk der deutschen Rechtschreibung erstmals auch iPhone-Besitzern zur Verfügung. Die Software ist in Zusammenarbeit mit der Paragon Software Group entwickelt worden. Erhältlich ist das Programm ab sofort zum Preis von 19,99 Euro im iTunes Online Store.

Der Duden für iPhone und iPod touch enthält den kompletten Inhalt des Standardwerks „Duden – Die deutsche Rechtschreibung”. Mobil nachschlagen lassen sich rund 135 000 Stichwörter mit über 500 000 Beispielen, Bedeutungserklärungen und Angaben zu Worttrennung, Aussprache, Grammatik, Stilebenen und Etymologie. So erweitern Profis die Fähigkeiten ihres Smartphones und haben den aktuellen Wortschatz der deutschen Gegenwartssprache unterwegs immer parat. Inklusive der 5 000 Wörter, die es neu in den Duden geschafft haben – angefangen von „Abwrackprämie”, „fremdschämen”, „Hybridauto” und „twittern” bis hin zu „Zwergplanet”. Auch die bewährten Dudenempfehlungen finden sich im Duden für iPhone: Eine gelbe Markierung zeigt an, welche der zulässigen Schreibweisen die Dudenredaktion empfiehlt.

Der Duden für iPhone und iPod touch bietet außerdem akustische Aussprachehilfe zu mehreren Tausend schwierigen Wörtern wie El Kaida, B2B-Geschäft, Barrique oder Grande Dame. Ein Antippen mit dem Finger genügt und das ausgewählte Wort wird von einem professionellen Sprecher der ARD vorgelesen.

Der Duden wird unterstützt von iPhones mit der Firmware 2.0, von den iPhones 3G und 3G S sowie vom iPod touch mit Firmware 2.0 bis 3.0.

Weitere Programmmerkmale

Die SlovoEd-Technologie von Paragon bietet eine sehr anwenderfreundliche Nutzeroberfläche – der Wörterbucheintrag zum gesuchten Wort erscheint schnell und übersichtlich. Eine Internetverbindung ist für die Benutzung des Dudens nicht notwendig. Das Wörterbuch muss nur einmal heruntergeladen werden und ist dann auf dem iPod touch oder iPhone ohne weitere Gebühren nutzbar.

Wenn dem Benutzer die richtige Schreibung eines Wortes unklar ist, lässt sich das gesuchte Wort mit sogenannten Platzhaltern (wie ‚?’ oder ‚*’) anstelle von Buchstaben eingeben, also beispielsweise „aufw*ndig”.

Verweise zwischen Wörterbucheinträgen sind über Hyperlinks gelöst, die das Springen zu einem anderen Eintrag schnell und einfach machen.

Wer ein bereits nachgeschlagenes Wort wiederfinden möchte, kann die praktische „History”-Funktion nutzen, die 50 Wörter auflistet, die zuletzt nachgeschlagen wurden.

Wird ein Wort falsch eingegeben, zeigt das iPhone eine Liste von Wörtern an, die stattdessen infrage kommen.

Zum digitalen Nachschlagen ist der neue Duden außer im iTunes Online Store auch für die wichtigsten anderen mobilen Plattformen wie Symbian, Windows Mobile und Palm OS erhältlich sowie als Software für Windows, Mac und Linux verfügbar.
