Paragon Software Group Enables Users of Select Motorola Multimedia Devices to Get Instant Wireless Weather Forecast

Mobile users are now able to access realtime weather reports in both Celsius and Fahrenheit on a wireless device, from any point on the globe

Freiburg, Germany – April, 8, 2008 – Paragon Software Group, a leading developer of innovative software applications for mobile devices and PC Desktops, has signed an agreement with Motorola to offer Handy Weather software on Motorola multimedia smartphones – including the MOTO Z8 and soon, the MOTO Z10, running UIQ. This software enables mobile users to get wireless weather forecasts in Celsius and Fahrenheit from any point in the world directly on their mobile device, subject to network connection and carrier capabilities.

Handy Weather software is the easiest, as well as most reliable way to access comprehensive weather forecasts for any destination, from any point on the globe – all in a mobile environment. Wireless Internet compatibility is the only requirement needed for users to get real time weather information on-the-go. Paragon’s server guarantees the most secure and fast data access up to two million instantaneous users. To get the forecast, users can pick any location from a preset list of all major cities worldwide, or use latitude and longitude coordinates to get weather information for any location on Earth.

"We are pleased to demonstrate our ability to accommodate business and consumers’ growing technology needs by offering this truly unique program – the most comprehensive weather forecast, now made available on Motorola multimedia smartphones, such as the MOTO Z8 and soon, the MOTO Z10. Today’s announcement underlines Paragon Software’s mission to make mobile technology easy to manage and affordable for both – business organizations and individuals for a predictable yearly fee," said Jeanne Kolesnik, Paragon’s Business Development Director, Smart Handheld Devices and Epocware divisions.

Weather forecasts are updated automatically at set time or intervals and do not require manual downloads. Handy Weather can be set to update weather forecasts at certain intervals (every four, eight, twelve or twenty-four hours), or at a time preset by the user. In addition, every time the wireless phone is activated, a weather forecast automatically downloads on the device, whether the application is running or not. With Handy Weather, finding weather forecasts is effortless.

Main Features of Handy Weather Include:

  • Celsius and Fahrenheit options for high and low day temperature
  • Very little traffic, only 7 Kb per city forecast
  • Temperature graph for five consecutive days, and simultaneous forecast for several locations of the user's choice
  • Well-designed animated graphics include traditional weather icons and text
  • Wind direction, gust and speed in mph, km/h or m/s
  • Pressure, humidity and other important features

Languages supported:

The program will be offered on a trial basis to all Motorola purchasers of these devices for three months. Users will then be invited to subscribe to the Handy Weather service for one year for an additional fee.
